Announcing the Winners of the 2017 Coolie Awards

We gave Awards Daily TV readers the chance to vote in the 2nd Annual Coolie Awards. Are these winners oddly predictive of Sunday’s Emmys®?

Sunday night marks the 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on CBS. We kind of know where the Television Academy will land in a few key races. Others, not so much. Still, Awards Daily TV wanted to give their own television awards that recognized our own slant on the 2017 television season. Last year, the first Annual Coolie Awards were determined solely by the staff of Awards Daily TV. Our choices somewhat ignored common convention. Bates Motel went home the big winner. So, with the 2017 Coolie Awards, we decided to open the Coolie Awards to our readers.

So, our readers went out on all kinds of crazy limbs, right?

Ehh. Not so much.

Big Little Lies. Veep. The Handmaid’s Tale. Whether or not these titles ultimately win Sunday’s Emmy Awards, they’re certainly not outside of the norm. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. We love our readers, and we love these awards. None of us can argue with Big Little Lies‘ four wins, leading all contenders. It will be interesting, though, to see if our readers’ appetites mirror those of the Television Academy in the end.

We’ll find out Sunday night.
