The Official Awards Daily TV 2017 Emmy Predictions!

The Awards Daily TV Emmy experts finally go on the record with their 2017 Emmy Predictions! See what our team thinks will triumph on Sunday night.

We’re finally here. The 2017 Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced Sunday night live on CBS. Emmy-nominee Stephen Colbert hosts. To prepare for the night, team Awards Daily TV gives you their official 2017 Emmy predictions!

Going into Sunday night’s ceremony, Netflix’s Stranger Things and HBO’s Westworld tied at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony last weekend with five wins each. Westworld led in overall nominations with 22, tied only by NBC’s comedy veteran Saturday Night Live. It’s not that surprising to see Westworld lead going into Sunday night’s telecast. Still, it’s not as significant a win as Stranger Things‘ five wins, including a win for the growing tell-tale category of Casting for a Drama Series. Plus, Stranger Things even managed to pull out a win in the Main Title Design category despite being the least deserving in the race.

Don’t overlook The Handmaid’s Tale, though, which pulled out a surprise win for Production Design, showing broad support among the voting body.

On the Comedy side, it looks like Veep‘s night with anticipated wins for Comedy Series and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Only Donald Glover’s Atlanta looks to spoil, but it’s unlikely in series. The team remains somewhat split on how big of a night it will be for Mr. Glover. Will he win for acting, writing, and directing?

You can also expect a Saturday Night Live sweep. Kate McKinnon and Alec Baldwin appear poised for wins. Plus, the series should easily win Variety Sketch Series.

With Limited Series, a real race emerged after the Creative Arts Emmys. HBO’s The Night Of displayed somewhat unexpected strength, winning four awards. Will a split between Big Little Lies and Feud: Bette and Joan make way for a dark horse contender in The Night Of? Last year, Susanne Bier surprised with a director win for The Night Manager. Will The Night Of‘s similarly auteur direction by Steven Zaillian emerge? Or will Jean-Marc Vallée’s similar direction of a multi-episode series seem the bigger feat to the Academy? And then there’s all those acting races, which appear (we think) to be dominated by the actor-friendly Big Little Lies.
