TNT drops the full-length trailer for its newest series that revolves around a serial killer in 19th century New York City.
TNT is throwing its hat into the ring of ambitious television with The Alienist, an 8-episode drama set in New York in 1896. The series was originally supposed to be directed by Cary Fukanaga, but he had to abandon the production due to scheduling conflicts. He stays on as executive producer while Jakob Vernbruggen is now at the helm.
A police inspector calls upon a newspaper illustrator (Luke Evans) and a criminal psychologist (Daniel Brühl) to investigate the gruesome deaths of young male prostitutes. Dakota Fanning plays a secretary who has ambitions to become the first female police detective. These three join forces to advance the investigation and try to stop the killer before he strikes again. The cast also includes Brian Geraghty as Theodore Roosevelt, Douglas Smith, and Buffalo Bill himself, Ted Levine.
The trailer drops at a perfect time even though the show doesn’t debut until next year. With Halloween right around the corner, TNT drops this full-length trailer right when we are in the mood for something spooky. The dark tone and some gorgeous shots will surely get people excited.
The Alienist debuts on TNT on January 22nd.
