Here’s a master list of over 250 movies that have caught the eye of Awards Daily readers in our search for the most promising titles of 2018.
Thanks to our friends Bryce Forestieri, MrScreenAddict and Ferdinand. A preliminary assembly list of 115 films was based entirely on the titles they named in their own surveys right after Oscar Night. Over 40 films appeared on all three of their lists. This weekend we took suggestions and added about 100 more. When the number of films not in English expanded to 90, they were enough to demand a list of their own. Thanks also to Roderigo, SirKicks, dh, and everyone else who contributed.

Previously:
Ready for the best of the movies ahead of us in 2018? This is a work in progress so let us know what we’ve forgetting. I won’t mind at all if we can expand this to 175 titles or more. When we feel like we’ve got every conceivable base covered then this list will become a poll and we’ll all get 20 votes to rank our favorites. These first 115 films were gleaned from merging three post-Oscar lists gathered up by our friends Bryce Forestieri, MrScreenAddict and Ferdinand.
At this end of this collection you’ll find about 50 titles that I came up with as interesting possibilities. I’ll fold most of those in later after you guys have vetted them. And we expect another 50 suggestions or more from readers.

I screen about 100-120 films in theatres including all festivals.
Thanks, Ryan! I´m always very intrested in discussions about film classics and Oscar history.
I’m here to keep you company Dominik!
Sasha and Jazz and Marshall and I are ready to start a new weekly feature at Awards Daily called Now Showing.
We will step up our coverage of movies currently in theaters.
If anyone is interested, we might also begun a recurring series about Past Classics — to talk about some of the highlights in Oscar history, as well as milestones in cinema that the Oscars somehow overlooked.
Stay tuned and check back and stick around! We’re on brief hiatus (post-Oscar night recovery) but we have lots of plans.
Wow, seems like 2017 is officially over now… and I only just catch up with the films nominated. Haven´t seen Lady Bird yet, but at least I saw Call me by your name today – amazing film, happy that it won for adapted screenplay! But why did they snub Armie Hammer? Criminal! Beautiful film, and a new ear worm by the Psychedelic Furs. This and Phantom Thread happen to be my favourite candidates. At least each film got one award – not too bad… by ya all, this threat looks as lonely as Elio in the end… I´m too late! 😉
