No Guts No Glory – 2018 Emmy Nominations Predictions

After an endless season of Emmy campaigns the 2018 nominations are almost here and everyone is excited to see what surprises they’ll bring. In fact some of the most exciting predictions are ones that fall far out of consensus – hence No Guts No Glory. In anticipation of this year’s nominees the ADTV team compiled some of our most wild predictions and the one thing all five of us agree on is that Killing Eve will break through one way or another.

Jalal

The entire Pearson family earns acting nominations except for Chrissy Metz.

Madeline Brewer earns a surprise supporting actress nomination for her upbeat and heartbreaking performance on this season of The Handmaid’s Tale.

Killing Eve is a surprise hit with a nomination for Sandra Oh as well as a writing nomination

Fresh off of his Oscar nomination for The Big Sick  Kumail Nanjiani earns his first Emmy nomination for his performance in Silicon Valley. 

Joey 

Jodie Comer’s breakout performance on Killing Eve is recognized in the highly competitive Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category.

Stranger Things is completely shutout in its second season.

Christopher Abbott is nominated for his supporting performance in The Sinner.  

Jazz

Grace & Frankie breaks into the Outstanding Comedy Series after seasons of rising nominations.

Killing Eve earns an Outstanding Drama Series nomination.

Catherine Zeta-Jones earns a surprise lead actress nomination for her performance in Cocaine Godmother.

Clarence 

After five supporting nominations for Grey’s Anatomy Sandra Oh is welcomed back by the Television Academy with her first lead actress nomination for Killing Eve.

Jon Jon Briones stands out among the large American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace and earns a supporting actor nomination.

After years of unrecognized work on American Horror Story Evan Peters finally earns his first Emmy nomination for Cult.

Megan

Jodie Comer earns a lead actress nomination for Killing Eve.

Noah Schnapp of Stranger Things is nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series race, tying the record for youngest nominee in the category.

Anjelica Huston is nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie category for her performance in The Watcher in the Woods – earning the seventh Emmy nomination of her career.
