This week, the Cooler Gang continues their breakdown of all the major July and August 2019 summer movies in the 2019 Summer Movie Preview.
This week, we’re finishing our 2019 Summer Movie preview. Last week, we covered cinematic offerings from May and June. Next up are July and August. Early whispers point to Disney’s mid-July live-action version of The Lion King becoming one of the highest grossing films of all time. Will that film suck up all the movie-going dollars? Also, we ponder the tough questions of the summer. Do we need another Spider-Man? Will Once Upon a Time in Hollywood return Quentin Tarantino to the best picture race? Does the allure of another Cate Blanchett performance overcome the stench of a 6-month postponement for Where’d You Go Bernadette?
But first, Clarence has seen two episodes of the upcoming HBO limited series Chernobyl. What’s the early Emmy forecast for this highly anticipated project? Also, is Game of Thrones really gunning for a new Emmy record? “Jenny of Oldstones,” the original song from this weekend’s episode, received coverage both in the episode and over the closing credits thanks to Florence and the Machine. Can it get an Emmy nomination? All this and more on our latest edition.
Next week, long-time podcast listener Kevin Dillon contributes his Our Favorite Movies entry in Michael Gondry’s 2004 masterpiece Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Be sure to catch up before we kick off the conversation.
We close our podcast, as always, with the Flash Forward to the media we’re most anticipating in the upcoming week.
