Exclusive: ‘Lost Daughter’ Cast Praises Gyllenhaal’s Directorial Prowess

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s makes her directorial debut with Netflix’s The Lost Daughter, and her critically acclaimed efforts were rewarded with dozens of critics’ mentions, including the Breakthrough Director award from the Gotham Awards. From a screenplay by Gyllenhaal based on the Elena Ferrante novel of the same name, The Lost Daughter stars Olivia Colman as Leda, a woman on vacation confronted with memories of her own failings as a mother. The film also stars Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, and others.
