Montclair Film today revealed the artwork for the thirteenth annual Montclair Film Festival. The vibrant, hopeful campaign was created by artist Kevin Scott Cosme from Sayreville, New Jersey. Combining his origins in graffiti art with an artistic manipulation of photographic portraits, he created colorful images of people joyfully absorbing the cinematic energy and culture that surrounds them. In other applications, a bright graffiti background is enhanced with the phrases “Immerse Yourself” and “Be Inspired”.
“We wanted to capture the feeling of excitement that comes over our community during the Montclair Film Festival. There’s a sense of wonder when you see a film or a conversation that challenges and inspires you or just brings you joy, and Kevin’s art not only depicts that feeling, but also the energy and hopefulness that comes with those experiences,” said Jill Montague, Montclair Film’s Marketing Director.
Kevin Scott Cosme is a creative specialist from Brooklyn, New York and currently resides in Sayreville, New Jersey. He began his artistic journey with graffiti, later creating murals and artworks for local businesses. Kevin honed his skills at the Purchase School of Art + Design, earning a BFA in Graphic Design in 1999. Later as a Senior Art Director for a SoHo ad agency, he worked with major brands like Sony, Cisco, Auto Zone, BMW, and others, infusing his unique style into their campaigns. Despite his success in advertising, Kevin’s true passion lies in painting. His vibrant, expressive work uses various mediums, aiming to resonate with a wide audience. His pieces have been featured at the Montclair Art Museum and other gallery and office spaces in Montclair.
“I wanted to convey the joy & wonder of cinema as well as the viewer’s experience of being completely immersed in a film. My goal was to visually capture those moments when we all form emotional connections while watching scenes that deeply move us,” expressed Artist Kevin Scott Cosme.
“We are so excited to have Kevin’s beautiful art pieces represent the 2024 Montclair Film Festival. These thoughtful images represent the best of what we do to bring our community together through the power of film,” remarked Montclair Film’s Executive Director and Co-Head Beth Gottung.
