Oscar Issac, Christian Bale and Charlotte le Bon star in the new Terry George film, The Promise. Set in 1914, The Promise looks at how over 1 million people were killed in the Armenian Genocide.
At its heart, the film focuses on Michael Bogohsian (Issac) who has just arrived in Siroun, as a medical student intending to bring modern medicine to Southern Turkey. Bale plays Chris Myers, a journalist, and le Bon plays the Armenian artist who is torn between her love for Chris, and Michael with whom she shares Armenian heritage and has an instant reaction. War threatens to tear them all apart.
