It’s Emmy® time! Team Awards Daily TV gives their final TV Movie / Limited Series Emmy Predictions in advance of Thursday’s nominations.
The time has finally come. Thursday morning brings the official 2017 Emmy nominations announced by Anna Chlumsky and Shemar Moore. Before the big reveal, the staff at Awards Daily TV gives their final predictions in select categories. Today, we’re focusing on TV Movie / Limited Series Emmy predictions. Across our team of five, we all agreed on the Limited Series Actor and Actress categories. The remaining categories held some consistency, but after that initial agreement, we diverged wildly.
To us, the big nominees still look like Feud: Bette and Joan, Big Little Lies, and Fargo. Honestly, it’s very likely that Feud: Bette and Joan leads all Emmy nominations. It looks to receive at least five acting nominations, and by the time you toss in all of the craft awards, we’re looking at anywhere from 13 to 16 nominations. The number entirely depends on how broadly the Television Academy embraces the individual writing and directing submissions for the series. Big Little Lies won’t see as many craft nominations (unless voters REALLY love exquisite kitchens), but it will go toe-to-toe with Feud for above-the-line nods. Finally, Fargo looks well poised for double-digit nominations, but the third chapter in Noah Hawley’s midwestern saga doesn’t have much buzz around it. Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are locks, but will both Michael Stuhlbarg and David Thewlis make it in? Will overall goodwill for Carrie Coon push her ahead of Oprah Winfrey for The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks? Or will Felicity Huffman push one out for the now-cancelled American Crime?
