It’s been two years since Sean Baker graced us with the iPhone shot Tangerine, and now he’s back with The Florida Project. Moonee ( Brooklynn Prince) lives with her young mother, Halley (Bria Vinaite), in a brightly painted budget motel run by Bobby (Willem Dafoe).
Baker started the project in 2013 but scored the financing for the film after the success of Tangerine. A24, bought the film when it screened at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. The film was shot on 35 millimeters and is Baker’s ode to the magic of childhood.
The film will screen at the New York Film Festival before its October release.
