Writers Liz Hannah and Brian Duffield have announced the launch of their social media campaign “Writers for Puerto Rico.” The campaign, hosted by CrowdRise, will support United for Puerto Rico where 100% of the funds collected will go directly to victims affected by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria.
As of today, about 75% of residents in Puerto Rico still lack electricity and 25% are without running water. Neither is expected to be fully restored for months and any funds raised will
help residents get food, water and shelter which is critical to their survival. Hannah and Duffield encourage writers not only to donate but to share with their followers and
friends using the hashtag #WritersforPuertoRico along with the CrowdRise link and graphic created by Megan Greydanus.
“Writers are a unique family that often use social media to speak our minds so what better way to spread the word and raise funds to support these citizens who have been viciously
devastated? Now is the opportunity to use our voices, in unison, to give back,” said Hannah. “We wanted to help in any way we could, and gathering together the voices in our community
felt like something we could immediately do,” added Duffield.
