The television nominations were announced on Wednesday afternoon, and women landed some of the prestigious top slots. Reed Morano, winner of this year’s Emmy Award for Outstanding Direction of a Drama Series, was the only woman to land a nod for the pilot of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale. This is her first DGA nomination. On the comedy side, women take three of the five slots, including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. Will that translate to next year’s Emmy Awards?
Kyra Sedgwick landed notice for Lifetime’s Story of a Girl while Jean-Marc Vallee nabbed his first nomination for the female-driven sensation, Big Little Lies.
