With Monday marking the start of the 2018 Emmy nominations round, 2018 Emmy campaigning is in full swing. Well, it has been for months, actually. Screeners are the most traditional way of putting your product out in front of the Television Academy. But with such a massive amount of television on the air, publicists have to up the creativity ante. Last year, the folks behind National Geographic’s Genius (comically) hosted a Genius-themed day to mark their series finale at Santa Monica State Beach. I mean, it’s different, right?
This year, one of the more amusing and clever partnerships exists between Hulu and Kreation. In honor of the critically acclaimed The Handmaid’s Tale, simply enter any one of Kreation’s 14 LA-based locations, be one of the first 100 customers to say “Blessed be the fruit,” and received a free juice. This one fits a bit better as the handmaid’s do a lot of shopping over seasons 1 and 2. And “blessed be the fruit?” It works I think. But I do love a pun.
On Saturday, June 9, Hulu kicked off the event by stationing a pair of handmaid’s at 7 primary Kreation locations in Brentwood, North Beverly Hills, Manhattan Beach (south location), South Beverly Hills, Venice, WeHo on West Third, and Santa Monica.
Here are a few photos from the event.
