Joey leads the podcast in our latest entry in the Our Favorite Movies series. His Volume 6 entry is the first film made from a board game. Yup, Joey brings us 1985’s Clue. Directed by Jonathan Lynn, Clue features an all-star cast of comic actors portraying such iconic characters as Miss Scarlet and Colonel Mustard. Initially receiving mixed critical reviews and poor box office, Clue has grown to become something of a cult hit. We talk about why this is one of Joey’s favorite movies. Plus, why, after 30+ years, it has maintained such a cult following?
But first, we’re looking at the Golden Globes limited series race in advance of the 2019 Golden Globe nominations on December 6. This will be the Hollywood Foreign Press Associations only shot to reward Ryan Murphy’s Emmy-winning American Crime Story entry, The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Is there any scenario where Versace will match the five nominations given to OJ Simpson? Or will the HFPA jump at the chance to be the first major awards body to recognize HBO’s acclaimed summer entry Sharp Objects? And how will they react to Netflix’s Maniac? Will it become Netflix’s first limited series Golden Globe Emmy nominee?
We close our podcast, as always, with the Flash Forward to the media we’re most anticipating in the upcoming week.
