Hulu’s prestige anthology series Castle Rock premiered with an accomplished, respectful, and potentially stilted first season. The combination of Stephen King’s vast universe of conflicted heroes and terrifying villains (plus the producing chops of J.J. Abrams) seemed like a great idea. Ultimately, the first season never fully delivered on that promise.
However, the series second outing looks to be far more promising, thanks in part to a potentially high impact performance from Lizzy Caplan as one of King’s greatest creations – Misery‘s Annie Wilkes. Caplan is joined by Tim Robbins, Paul Sparks, Elsie Fisher, and others as they further explore the mythology of Castle Rock. The new trailer certainly looks compelling enough.
In addition to the trailer, Hulu is taking advantage of the upcoming Halloween season to have some fun with the rollout. Here are the details of a social media event they’re hosting to promote Season 2 of Castle Rock.
Castle Rock will go live from Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, on Wednesday, October 2, at 9 p.m. ET with a haunting, 13-minute drive that gives fans the driver’s seat view as the car winds through the woods en route to Jerusalem’s Lot, ultimately leading to an exclusive sneak peek at season two. Along the way, the viewer will see and hear easter eggs from the Stephen King and Bad Robot universes, in addition to a few hints at what’s to come this season.
Join Hulu when Castle Rock Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, October 23, with the first three episodes.
