This week, the Water Cooler Podcast gang are back together again to catch up on two major fall films and their Oscar future: Judy and Joker.
We’re back at the Water Cooler this week finally ready to chat about two major fall films. Judy premiered in late September to strong reviews and raves for Renee Zellwegger’s lead performance. With a decent box office for the small film, can it rise to anything other than Zellwegger’s performance at awards time? We talk about the film and analyze its awards chances. Plus, we talk about the brewing Renee Zellwegger versus Charlize Theron battle ahead.
Then, everyone’s talking about Joker. It’s a huge box office hit. It’s inspired hundreds of think pieces. People are now proclaiming the film a Best Picture nominee and star Joaquin Phoenix a slam dunk to win Best Actor. We start our conversation with our personal reactions to the film. We then look at the probability around its Oscar chances.
But first, Clarence and Joey each attended film festivals. They talk about the films they’ve seen, what they loved, and what they didn’t. Also, Megan previews her upcoming trip to the Savannah Film Festival.
Next week, be sure to join us for the latest Our Favorite Movies entry courtesy of AD TV’s own David Phillips. We’ll be talking about David Fincher’s brilliant Se7en.
We close our podcast, as always, with the Flash Forward to the media we’re most anticipating in the upcoming week.
