The 72nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced live tonight on ABC, and Pop TV’s Schitt’s Creek made history by winning all awards for which it was nominated. This is the first time in Emmy history that a series has won Series, Directing, Writing, and all four main acting races. For a tiny import from Canada with literally no budget, this is astounding. Every single member of Awards Daily TV thanks the Television Academy for recognizing a show we’ve been championing since Day 1. It was a great night.
On the Drama front, HBO’s Succession took home the Drama Series trophy in addition to writing/directing and a Lead Actor win for Jeremy Strong. The cable programmer also received wins in the limited series race for Watchmen in the Series, Writing, Actress and Supporting Actor races. It also took home a buzzed about, but little predicted, Drama Actress win for Euphoria‘s Zendaya, one of the biggest surprises of the evening. She also makes history as the youngest person to receive the Lead Actress award.
Tomorrow, Team AD TV will record a podcast with their full reactions.
Until then, here are your official winners for the 72nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
