New York, NY (May 16, 2021) – The 2021 “MTV Movie & TV Awards” aired LIVE from the Palladium in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 16. Comedienne and actress Leslie Jones hosted the show, which kicked off MTV’s epic two-night event celebrating the biggest and best moments in film and television.
But Mark Harris pretty much sums up the night here:
I want to meet the MTV movie awards voter who thought, “Yes, Chadwick Boseman’s work as Levee in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom was a remarkable synthesis of the naturalistic and the theatrical, but for overall cinematic achievement, I have to go with…” pic.twitter.com/QkNNJ5RZqc

No comedies to kick off their fall schedule for the 1st time since 1971.
My guess? They wanted Leslie Jones there and she kinda suggested they give her Comedic Performance as a, let’s just say, incentive. Ugh deluxe, but if it kept yet one more award from the overrated Schitt’s Creek, I can live with that.
The Oscars f’d up in giving Anthony Hopkins best actor for his On Golden Pond take on alzheimers. Full. Forking. STOP. Boseman was robbed and it took MTV of all places to make it right.
To All the Boys 2 was a WTF pick. We agree. So was Julie and the Phantoms over Agatha All Along. Not enough head scratching over this delirious choice.
