“Somehow, I have a sneaking suspicion that, when it comes to wins, Parasite notwithstanding, this love for international features we’ve seen in nominations will be less pronounced.”
Same feelings.
I agree with the nominations

All 14 Oscar animated winners since this particular ACE award has been in play were at least nominated here. (13 of them won – Big Hero 6 lost to a movie not nominated for the Oscar, The Lego Movie.) OK, The Boy and the Heron is foreign and they’ve never nominated a foreign animated movie here… But maybe that in itself is a problem. I guess we’ll see. Somehow, I have a sneaking suspicion that, when it comes to wins, Parasite notwithstanding, this love for international features we’ve seen in nominations will be less pronounced. It takes a lot more votes to win than to get nominated… My money’s on Spider-Verse. (Already was, but this ACE thing is further reason.)
I clicked an option to give everyone their own Robot avatar.
If enough of you want me to, I can click another option so we can all have XXX-rated avatars.
Thanks Ryan 🙂
We’re most likely going to reinstall Disqus.
Just for the time being, we’re trying to simplify the site’s features until the cause of the site freezing can be found and fixed.
I can’t edit my comments anymore, and I can’t block some people 🙂 oh well. I just have to be nice on my first comment attempt now.
Welcome to the new comments section.
Glad to hear Disqus isn’t going bye bye.
Thanks for the update and the good work. I’d just watched Midnight (1939) and was in happy mood to post a few comments. I’m currently contemplating an Argo like win for Barbie and its possible fallout.
Ey everyone maybe big shock awards season is decision of discus to boycott its involvement in lead up to it ey? :P:P
Suddenly the great ( unlikely ) ‘Barbie’ ‘steal’ off of mighty Oppie pales in insignificance to no ‘ biggest dickus’ ala discus ey? ( with thanx to Monty pythons legendary ‘ life of brian’ for the inspiration thetr thoughts?
Well? AMPAS VOTERS loooove a deviation lately as Bern trend from predictability in business end of Oscar race he out there conspiracy ( still sipping ultra whisky infused coolaid as I wrote this :P:P:P).. but maybe AMPAS planted this website ‘ deviation’ ey? To create distraction?? Jke..
Hey Ryan amongst the editing guild ennouncement and unintended editing ommisions cos net problems with certain sites (as i said i know not your doing at all such is fickle nature of websites on net in general ey?) but i ahd crazy thought: nbear with me as i lampoon myself in my own twisted charm before you:
BUT AT LEAST CAPTIAL LETTER FUNCTION NOT BEEN CUT DOWN despite temporary removal of functions ey?
:P:P:P
Now you wondering : “did i have too much coolaid ” in my drink diluted with ultra potent whisky? you bet :P:P:P numb my soreness from my move perhaps ??? :P:P but i must (sracastically) protest Ryan i cannot do BOLD(soo i use capital instead see? :P:P
..hey Sammy it became a ‘dick’ sus get it? or? as one world most famous comedy sketches my dear friuend (even though you rpefer Holdovers and you soo dont like Nolan…) but world famous comedy sketch in Monty Python’s ‘Life of Brian’ Discus i mean.. ‘DIKSUS’ is more like “BICCUS, DICKUS!!”ey?
Oh i JUST able to properly finally load the website after sefveral attempts to RYan, mate..interesting timing thought at a time after my.. most recent 4th move in 3 yrs (crazy ey? boy am i feeling soreness all over but )..the other thing of course is coinciding with your site freezing up….that …I having internet problems since this is ONLY day no.2 (rinse and repeat for 4th time in 3 yrs to restart the ‘living in one place counter’ *rolleyes* (no wonder i riled you up wrong way sometimes cos i was so unsettled which i apologetic to you for never intended to truly:) but we move on ey?)but yea day no.2 i FORGOT to activate my internet dear Ryan…until AFTER i moved in..i not sure for time my pockey wifi backup to my backup was down, my fibre optics connection darwired to streed NBN was down, and my phone data was now working either to connect pc to internet..at SAME TIME it appears ironically – that your site hacing problems..
I sensed it was not do with my internet when i loaded sites from numerous other webpages like news for instance or watch streaming via webaddress my local channels..and AD.COM.. was realllly slooow to load..
on lighjt note: “bye bye, discus?’ as someon said? how ironic this issues occur under the topic of the EDITING GUILD.. nominations announced lol! so can wde now say web ‘edited out’ discus i lknow your didn’t lotta unintended ‘editing’ going on evolving round the website at same time ACE EDDIE annoiunced ey? ironic ey? :P:P
BY way Ryan you confident Oppenheimer will win LEAST 7 oscars inc best picture? editing surely has to be one it most secure oscar wins almost certainly ey? can we be confident of ANYTHING as far as frontrunner this late in race stage in today day and age anyway? what you tihnk?>
hope you well Ryan..
We’re trying to isolate a piece of bad HTML code that is causing the site to freeze.
We’re unplugging various features of the site to see what happens.
Disqus does not seem to be the problem.
We just have not yet reactivated it.
No deviations from nominations!
No deviations from nominations
Bye bye Disqus!?
I was ForUnjustOther on Disqus.
Anyway, glad to see Anatomy of A Fall nominated here. It’s so strange (Yet so rightfully satisfying) to see AMPAS, Big US Guilds, French Cesars and BAFTA all numerously nominating this film. Are they ALL woke or (Excluding Cesar) foreign lovers?
My question, too.
