HollyShorts OSCAR-qualifying film festival will open on August 8th with a red carpet right on the steps of the Dolby theater. The festival’s much-anticipated 20th edition is being held from August 8-18, 2024. From over 6000 entries, over 400 films form this year’s anniversary program.
To kick off its 20th anniversary, the HollyShorts Institute will present Alta Global Media’s 2024 Film Summit at the festival. This unparalleled panel schedule consists of innovative sessions with industry think tanks, film finance, distribution, marketing, conversations and workshops for filmmakers.
The festival will kick off with a three-day event within the festival at Japan House from August 9 to 11. The summit will begin with a coffee with the festival founders Theo Dumont and Daniel Sol on Friday, August 9. It will be followed by a Keynote from Mary-Lou Belli, Two-Time Emmy Award winner and Primetime Emmy Award Nominee for a Comedy Series. The summit’s second Keynote will be Actors on Actors, featuring Jimmy Jean-Louis, Roger Guenveur Smith, and Richard Laws.
Following the summit, HollyShorts will feature signature panel discussions every evening from August 12 to 15 at the Japan House. Throughout the week, the events will feature intimate filmmaker drink receptions sponsored by Monarch Wine, Revella Tequila, and Smartwater/Vitamin Water.

The festival is also unveiling its Fireside Chat lineup, which will take place at the TCL Chinese 6 Theater VIP Filmmakers Lounge, presented by Vibes Snacks.
