Since it is our American Thanksgiving here, which translates as a lot of people driving and eating mainly, but theoretically it is a time to offer up our thanks for the things we are grateful for.
So, I wanted to send out a few thank yous. After the cut.
First up, thanks to my partner in crime, Ryan Adams, without whom this website could not function. It isn’t just that he manages the content as well as he does, proofs my often illegible posts, and finds great items to post on a daily basis – he is also a major contributor to the tone and lively comments section. I tend to be too grouchy to deal with it half of the time, but Ryan is always patient, concerned and involved. He is a very very good writer, though his work isn’t on full display the way it ought to be, especially right now during Oscar season. But hopefully, more and more of Ryan’s original writing will start to come out. He is also my good and dear friend. So, thank you Ryan, for everything.
Thanks to the AD contributors of late, Nancy Kriparos, Brian Whisenant, Jordan Ruimy, Jenny B., Ladylurks (our great and loyal pal), and the commenters, whom I consider to be contributors – driving the dialogue on a daily basis, sending us tips and links. The attention to keeping the site current seems to be on your minds and we appreciate that. We really do.
Thanks to my now 12 year-old daughter Emma who has been alive almost as long as this website has run. She knows what movies are in the Oscar race and has been watching films since she was six months old. She is incredibly patient with me as my divide my time between her school and this site.
Thanks to the many other websites who link back here on occasion, and who help boost traffic, as well as inspire us to do better work – that would be Craig Kennedy and Living in Cinema, Anne Thompson and Indiewire, Kris Tapley and In Contention, Steve Pond at The Wrap, Melissa Silverstein at Women & Hollywood, Jennifer Merin at Alliance of Women Film Journalists, Jeff Wells and Hollywood Elsewhere, David Poland and Movie City News, Erik Childress at Cinematical, Ed Douglas as ComingSoon, Katey Rich at Cinemablend, Scott Feinberg of Scottfeinberg.com, Phil Contrino of Boxoffice.com, Vulture, Vanity Fair’s Little Gold Men, Metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes, and other sites that we depend on daily, Variety, the New York and LA Times, the New Yorker – we also love to read Glenn Kenny, Owen Gleiberman and Lisa Schwarzbaum, AO Scott and Manohla Dargis, Andrew O’Hehir, Roger Ebert, David Carr at the NY Times, Marshall Fine, and the many other film critics who contribute so much to our movie watching.
I just know I’m forgetting a whole bunch of other people.
And finally, though I’ve already said it a few different ways, we’d like to thank you, our readers, for coming here and checking us out daily. We are now and have always been nothing without you. Happy Thanksgiving all.
