1912 campaign ad highlights same concerns we face today

Film School Rejects has dug up one of the first political ads ever filmed when voters had a choice between Republican William Taft and Democrat Woodrow Wilson in 1912.

1912, when the bankers supporting Taft were portrayed trying to buy votes for a million dollars, and the common man was encouraged to make a difference by contributing “one honest dollar” to Wilson, a candidate “of and for the people.”

So apparently not a whole lot has changed in a hundred years except the cash has piled up in exponential orders of magnitude. (At first glance I thought the lowlife thug arrived with his “Douche Bag” handy because I’m seeing so many of those carted out in Tampa today. Can somebody clue me in about what falls out of the pocket of the fat-cat right-wing visitor at 03:00? Is that an antique vaginal probe?)
