Reactions to the footage shown at CinemaCon for Gone Girl are all positive:
From the Hollywood Reporter:
Gone Girl’s dark trailer showed Ben Affleck’s character dealing with a media frenzy after his wife (Rosamund Pike) disappears. The trailer promises a haunting thriller, very much in line with Gillian Flynn’s book on which it is based. Affleck’s character can be seen creepily posing with his wife’s “Missing” poster and being harassed by media and police as the search continues for her. “I did not kill my wife. I am not a murderer,” says Affleck’s haunting voice-over towards the end of the trailer.
Okay now we just saw Gone Girl footage and it was amazing. Fincher going Zodiac again with some Tattoo undertones. Looks like a contender.

Footage from GONE GIRL was intense and noir-y. Felt like a good fit for Fincher's style. #cinemacon

Saw footage from Fincher's GONE GIRL. As you might expect looked great. He's one of the best directors on the planet. Can't wait for this.

Just bought my wife the book, right up her street. I can’t wait for this. Fincher is one of the best directors in the business – he has been for some time now.
[#speaking for myself]
Hands down to Social Network (strong B+).
However, [#] Seven (C+ or so [C]), and Zodiac (C+ or very weak B-), to name but the two, are relatively overrated in my book. (Still, they are enjoyable for sure.)
That said, David Fincher’s name is definitely trustworthy; so, I feel for now that it could well be a joyride or more. So, I’m in.
Plus, the beauteous Rosamund Pike still rock[] n roll babaaay . . . .
And how could we all forgot the BAFTA-nominated Best Actor the wondrous Ben Affleck [lol, sorry, I couldn’ resist . . . . . . . .], not to mention the unforgettable God-send performance of his in [drums rolling . . . . . . . .] . . . Gigli . . . . xD
Nonsense on the most part of the previous paragraph aside, I’m definitely looking forward to this film (mainly because it is directed by David Fincher).
Thanks for keeping us all posted, AD.
Any comparisons to Zodiac work for me. That is still one of my favorite films of the last seven years.
I would never trust what is said at Cinemacon. This story could ruin the movie but the possible change has be excited. I’m excited for the movie especially to see what Neil Patrick Harris can do with his character and if he can be taken seriously because if he succeds it will be the story of the film.
i hope fincher doesn’t mess with it like he usually does his thrillers, he likes meddle with the endings of some solid thrillers like seven, game and well, i won’t mention dragon tattoo, the whole movie was a disaster for me. i love when fincher does intense dramas like zodiac, benjamin button and social network.
Oooo!! I wish I had been in the audience. Gone Girl is going to be one of the best movies of the year. I have a good feeling. 🙂
