I was somewhat indifferent to the first film, but thought the second one was terrific and much better than I would have ever expected. I’m very curious to see this one.
I love the books, and I love the second movie. Anyone who stopped after what Gary Ross did to the first film is missing out on the tremendous work Francis Lawrence did with the second and what is on display here. I almost wish he would go back and remake the first one, because I would love to see what he does with it. I am also going to say now that this will be a split final book that actually benefits from it. The third book, while engrossing, definitely had issues, the most of which is because it seemed rushed. I hope they have found a natural place to end the first movie, and with two films, they create something that is worthy of Katniss. Finally, I am tired of references to Battle Royale. It is lazy, and you are probably one of the 2000 Americans who actually watched it. Kudos.
I think there’s a good chance Mockingjay – Part 1 will be the box office champion of 2014. I see it besting Guardians of the Galaxy. I think the only other tough competition will be, (and I’m going out on a limb here since the first two didn’t match the success of The Lord of the Rings trilogy) The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies.
BTW, I think of The Walking Dead when I see your name. 🙂
Katniss is the greatest heroine to come out of this decade. Trailer looks incredible and seems like they improved over the book. Fingers crossed this is another year where female-led movie wins yearly boxoffice.
“I’m still not getting the hype of this franchise. I’ve seen the first movie and didn’t think it was any good, but hey, that’s just me.”
You are not alone, for I am here with you . . . .
I checked out the first flick [weak C minus], too, and that was it — merci bien for a so-so one night stand, Mademoiselle. Adios, au revoir, sayonara for good, babaay . . . .
Too soft and — to me — too much of Battle Royale inspiration (coincidental or not), to begin with.
(Though I might watch the sequels on cable if I happen to feel like checking it out at that time while I’m multitasking.)

Side note: Talking about cables, two of the movies I believe I will never get tired of watching on cables just as I did enjoy in theater a few times or more, are, for instance, American Beauty (A-), and The Big Lebowski (A-).
I wasn’t a big fan of the second film, but I’m game for this, and am proud to announce I’ll be leading the charge to get Donald Sutherland his first Oscar nomination!
Jennifer Lawrence finally projects an attitude of FURY that I’ve needed to see but never felt in previous installments. If more characters in The Hunger Games universe had expressed “THIS IS SOME BULLSHIT!” about their circumstances sooner, then I might have been able to buy into it a couple of years ago.
And I agree with you, Bryce. At last we get a movie that looks “lived in” — instead of the wacky Halloween prom-theme vibe I’ve got from previous plastic facade episodes. Thank god somebody reined in the wig-maker.
Wow. Well done to everyone involved, especially Jennifer Lawrence. Josh Hutcherson looks like a show stealer (again). Finally something that looks like a proper film.
I’m still not getting the hype of this franchise. I’ve seen the first movie and didn’t think it was any good, but hey, that’s just me. I’m not expecting this generic blockbuster to get any awards traction. The only thing I found emotional about the trailer is that it’s still hard to watch PHS on screen.
I am super excited for this. I saw the first two and at the end of Catching Fire, got chills. Hopefully I’ll be seeing this one in the theater near my house that has the leathery reclining seats. I’ll put my feet up, lay my head back, and enjoy Mockingjay – Part 1.
Watch out, Guardians. Here comes the biggest movie of 2014, like it or not…

ahahaha haters everywhere crying, J-Law is the queen bitches!
a horseshit trailer for horseshit movie, the more it tries to be taken seriously, the more it looks laughable..
Wooow this saga is amazing ! Jennifer Lawrence is a big big actress. The best of his generation, she rules!
I love Julianne Moore’s voice
I feel like I could listen to her talk forever

Have to wait until after work to watch this…stupid job blocking YouTube. It’s like they WANT me to do more work.
After the 1st and 2nd exceeded my expectations in big ways I’m very much looking forward to this 3rd outing.
That image of Josh Hutcherson and Stanley Tucci having the bitchiest, most opulent talk show is my favorite shot of the whole thing.
