I’ve seen it and this is 100% true, as I stated on another thread where people who haven’t seen it dismissed my opinion because it wasn’t falling in line with what “IMDB commenters” thought.
As for the Lead vs. Supporting arguments, I agree that there is no way Blanchett won’t be campaigned in Lead and the film supports such a claim. I also don’t think she’s out of contention for the win because of either a) not winning at Cannes or b) winning two years ago. She gives a great performance and could pull out a win. From my POV, Mara should also be campaigned in Lead, but I recognize the difficulty in that from a campaign perspective and if they put her in Supporting I don’t think it’s fraudulent. I also don’t think a Supporting award is a less-than version of a Lead award so honestly who cares.
