Alejandro G. Inarritu’s The Revenant opens December 25th. Leonardo DiCaprio gets another shot at the big prize. The Revenant is “partially based” on Michael Punke’s 2003 novel and is the story of fur trapper and hunter Hugh Glass, a man who survived a grizzly bear attack, was left for dead, who then crawled his way back to survival. In the hands of Inarritu, there is likely more to it than just an extreme tale of survival.

Looks fabulous! Leo and Tom together….the real deal, although Tom wins with me!
Last night I watched it a few more times. It just looks like it could be the best film of the year. I know I’m talking crazy, but let’s see….
The trailer looks biutiful:). Although Chivo pulls off another marvel let us not forget that Innaritu is the one who insisted on natural light and it was Innaritu who insisted on searching for the best shooting locations. In this context, and considering that they have collaborated many times before birdman (although this is their second film feature together) I find it a bit harsh to be crediting the trailer for everyone else besides it’s director. This reminds me of an interveiw given by Guillermo d’ Arriaga. He said that as a screenwriter his worst moment happened when people kept praising 21 grams for it’s editing and downplayed the writing. His reason being that the editing process had been specifically foreseen and processed in the script which he developped for more than three years. Food for thought.
Kane, no doubt Tom Hardy has been in more than 2 great films. I was a little lazy in naming more. But also, I haven’t seen Locke yet, which is definitely one I need to see.
Paddy, why do you hope it’s shit?
Al, Hardy was only in 2 great films? You MUST check out Locke at the very least. That’s easily his best work (so far).
I can’t watch the trailer yet but I’m hoping DiCaprio turns out good. I like him a lot as an actor but maybe I’m one of the few who has never been blown away by his abilities (except What’s Eating Gilbert Grape).
