Directed by Luca Guadagnino, and starring Ralph Fiennes, Dakota Johnson, Matthias Schoenaerts and Tilda Swinton.
Rock legend Marianne Lane is recuperating on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with her partner Paul when iconoclast record producer and old flame Harry unexpectedly arrives with his daughter Penelope and interrupts their holiday, bringing with him an A-bomb blast of nostalgia from which there can be no rescue.
A BIGGER SPLASH is a sensuous portrait of desire, jealousy and rock and roll, under the Mediterranean sun.

Yum. For several reasons.
“He’s got a huge talent!”
This Mathias guy is on his way to becoming a BIG Hollywood star. Hubba hubba. He’s got it all. Great looks, and the guy can act too!!
And he’s got a big dick.
i guess this trailer was ok. it really didn’t interest me.but trailers seldom do.guess i’ll wait for reviews.maybe if i’d seen ‘i am love i’d be a lot more excited about this, 😉
Paddy,
I liked your comment about “I Am Love”. I, too, think it is a masterpiece. It was one of my favorite movies that year. It was a shame it wasn’t nominated for Best Foreign Film.
Interesting tidbit for all of you out there. Marissa Berenson (of “Cabaret” and “Barry Lyndon” fame) played Swinton’s mother-in-law in “I am Love”. I didn’t recognize her until I saw her name in the credits. It’s nice to see that she still gets offered and accepts film roles.
I love trailers that don’t tell you the whole plot of the movie. A trailer should “tease” . . . and this one delivers in spades.
I, too, am one of those people who LOVE “I Am Love”. Swinton was amazing in that movie . . . her Italian was perfect.
Interestingly, it did receive an Academy Award nomination (deservedly) for Best Costume Design. No one saw that one coming (except yours truly). It is one of the few Oscar-nominated films where the costumes are modern (not epic or historical).
Given that the director of this movie also did “I Am Love”, consider me in. I want to see it opening weekend.
P.S. This Mathias guy is on his way to becoming a BIG Hollywood star. Hubba hubba. He’s got it all. Great looks, and the guy can act too!! (His resume is becoming VERY impressive . . . this year alone with “A Little Chaos” and “Far From the Madding Crowd”. And now this movie, too. What a career this guy is having.
That is quite possibly the sexiest trailer I’ve ever seen.
Every time I watch I Am Love (and it’s a whole fucking lot of times so far), I appreciate it even more than the last time, without fail. What a fucking masterpiece. A work of extraordinary filmmaking genius.
lbr I’d go see this if it was literally just two hours of watching Matthias Schoenaerts sunbathing. In fact, I’d possibly be even more likely to see it if it was just that. Lucky for me, I’m seeing its British premiere this day next week.
-What Swinton did in I AM LOVE is top 5 performance of the new millennium and she should have won the Best Actor Oscar for it.
-Fiennes should have won the Best Actor Oscar for GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL.
-Matthias <3
Glad to see tilda still doing her thing and picking such versatile roles which is whyi love her. Still can’t get over they robbed her and Rene russo of an Oscar nom.. Everytime nightcrawler and snowpiercer come on I get pissed lol
That was a flash of a trailer. I missed what it was about. But it looks like one I’ll try to see next year. Plus, I like that both Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swinton, plus Dakota Johnson are in it.
Swinton >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Blanchett
I haven’t seen I Am Love but his looks like a lot of fun. Seems like a perfect summer movie in a lot of ways.
Oooh wowsa!
The movie looks very interesting. Tilda is flashing a lot of great clothings. Fiennes seemed to have a blast with this
Though I love Tilda Swinton to death, a part of me still thinks what Cate Blanchett would have done in that role. Blanchett was the original choice
A very serious cinematic question: Will Matthias be European or American sensorship naked?
Here’s what’s obscene. That it still says “Academy Award NOMINEE” Ralph Fiennes. Seriously, that’s just so F’ed up. (Not that I didn’t forget to put him on my favorite movie peeps list, which you guys have been zero help with, thanks.)
This Matthias guy could be one of my favorites one day, if I ever learn how to spell his last name without looking it up.
