Golden Globes After Party 2016

The 2016 Golden Globes was one to remember, The Big Short, Carol and front runner Spotlight were all shut out. In their respective Drama and Comedy categories, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon won Best Actor, Brie Larson and Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress,  The Revenant and The Martian took Best Picture. Once the final award of the evening had been handed out, it was on to the insane number of after parties — some of which I was lucky enough to be invited to. The Beverly Hilton played host to the official NBC/Universal/Focus Features after party, The Weinstein/Netflix annual after party, In Style and Warner Bros.’ party, Amazon Studio’s party, HBO’s big bash, and the triumphant Fox’s after party.

At the Fox party, the cast of Empire celebrated, Innaritu posed for photos, Leonardo DiCaprio chatted with Tobey Maguire, Lady Gaga who won a Golden Globe for American Horror Story: Hotel made a sweeping entrance and left after ten minutes.

Upstairs on the rooftop at the official NBC/Universal party, Amy Schumer put in an appearance, as did Christian Slater, and Best Supporting Actress winner Kate Winslet. Michael Fassbender star of Steve Jobs played with winner Kate, and was seen curtsying to Winslet.  Star of The Danish Girl and Ex Machina, Alicia Vikander, also put in an appearance but left shortly after. Eddie Redmayne, Jennifer Lopez, and Director Tom Hooper were also spotted.

The Weinstein/Netflix party had a Moët vending machine where guests could insert a free coin to get a mini bottle of champagne. Host Ricky Gervais partied, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman danced to Stevie Wonder. Jennifer Lawrence changed outfits for her appearance.

Halfway through the evening came the devastating news that legendary David Bowie had passed away, and his music could soon be heard at every event across town in tribute to the icon. Aside from his enormous impact on music, Bowie had a fascinating film career, appearing in Labyrinth, The Man Who Fell to Earth, and The Hunger.
