What the world needs now are more movies like this. Lionsgate is releasing the film in theaters and on VOD on the same day. Here is what we know: it’s not going to be a “critics movie.” And that means, probably not an Oscar movie. But think about this for a minute – how many movies made in Hollywood now have the luxury of casting Kathy Bates, Octavia Spencer and Glenn Close? Yes, it’s a “genre movie” and no, that makes it not an Oscar movie. But I’m gonna say it’s just a few channels over from one. We’re going to have to start expanding our reach since Hollywood keeps limiting it. I am greatly looking for forward to seeing this movie. I’m not looking forward to reading the reviews of this movie. There has to be a place in films still for people who aren’t interested in superhero movies and maybe not interested in challenging independent fare. There always has been a place, for almost 100 years. I’m stubbornly holding on to it anyway.
