Best Picture Watch: Manchester By The Sea Gets A Trailer

Yesterday, Peter Travers named Manchester By The Sea one of the Best films of the 21st Century, and Sasha wrote about it here. Today, Kenneth Lonergan’s film got its first trailer we are given a glimpse of the highly anticipated film.

Directed by Kenneth Lonergan, Manchester By The Sea made its debut at Sundance earlier this year and was the must-see film. Starring Casey Affleck, the film tells the story of Lee (Affleck) who returns to his New England home after the death of his older brother Joe (Kyle Chandler), Lee Chandler is shocked to learn that Joe has made him sole guardian of his nephew Patrick played by Lucas Hedges who gives a phenomenal performance. Taking leave of his job, Lee reluctantly returns to Manchester-by-the-Sea to care for Patrick, a spirited 15-year-old, and is forced to deal with a past that separated him from his wife Randi (Michelle Williams) and the community where he was born and raised. Bonded by the man who held their family together, Lee and Patrick struggle to adjust to a world without him.

Manchester By The Sea was snapped up by Amazon for $10 million dollars and will be released on November 18. It is also the Official selection for the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival ‘Special Presentations’ category.
