Disney has released a clip of the brand new song, Back To Life by Alicia Keys from Queen of Katwe. Keys says, “The film beautifully depicts Uganda with such honest attention to detail; the colors, the sounds, the people all vividly brought to life. But most soulfully, it’s the story of this fearless, brilliant girl Phiona who embodies the message that the rise to success first begins with opportunity and the belief you have in yourself to pursue something bigger.”
Queen of Katwe stars Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo and tells the true story of Phiona Mutesi, a young girl who spends her time sleeping in the Katwe slum of Kampala, Uganda. The impoverished girl is soon introduced to chess and becomes one of the best chess players in the world.
In the featurette, Keys talks about the song’s meaning, “Back To Life is about pushing past that little voice of doubt in our heads so we can instead, electrify the world.”
