Telluride Film Festival Announces Full Lineup

Sully, La La Land, Arrival are heading to Telluride. Into The Inferno from Werner Herzog and Richard Ladkani’s The Ivory Game are among the documentaries being screened. , Volker Schlöndorff is this year’s guest director. The Guest Director serves as a key collaborator in the Festival’s programming decisions, bringing new ideas and overlooked films to Telluride. On the festival website, Schlöndorff says, “Since 1981 Telluride has been part of my life, my favorite festival for the uniqueness of the location and the number of friends I met and made there. It’s not just about our love of movies, but of life and conviviality and good will for a lot of lost causes. Julie Huntsinger and Tom Luddy are in touch with me all around the year, exchanging funny links and gossip. Of all honors, it’s one of the greatest to curate a program in the mountains.”

Also included in the lineup is Moonlight from Barry Jenkins. Moonlight stars Naomie Harris, André Holland, and Mahershala Ali. The film is set in Miami and is based on the play “In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue” by Tarell Alvin McCraney. The film focuses on three vignettes set in the late 1990s, the 2000s and present-day, telling the story of a young man’s struggle to find himself.
