Perhaps it’s that Smaug, (just off screen) has just done something really bad to something or someone, and they’re trying to collect themselves in order to figure out what to do about it.

I think gandalf has gone to laketown and their slaying the dragon smaug.

It’s a flash forward to the reaction to opening weekend BO take and everybody realizes they may have overstayed their welcome. OR – McKellan and Evans have just been told that there will be 3 more 3hr sequels.
Awesome still. I I love bard and gandalf together can’t wait.
