Last year’s Emmy winner for Best Comedy returns April 24. One notable change in its fifth season is the departure of original showrunner / creator Armando Iannucci. Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s David Mandel joined the series as its new showrunner.

Roots
The History Channel’s remake of Roots will premiere Monday, May 30. The 8-hour remake of the classic 1977 series stars Forest Whitaker, Laurence Fishburne, Anna Paquin, Johathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Matthew Goode, Mekhi Phifer, and Tip “T.I.” Harris among others. The original Roots, based on the novel by Alex Haley, won nine Emmys. Original star LeVar Burton is co-producing the updated series.
Roadies
Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe makes his first foray into television with Roadies. Following a touring fictitious band, Roadies stars Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino, Imogen Poots, Keisha Castle-Hughes, and Luis Guzman. The new Showtime series will debut on June 26. The world hopes for a return to Almost greatness.
